Any one into the Battlefield games?
My buddy gave me BF3 on his laptop. This thing is kick ass :!:

The graphics are fantastic. Modern day combat in the mid east (and other areas) with realistic weapons.

My one big gripe with this game is with the F-18. F-18's are single seat strike fighters. There ain't no back seat.
An F-14 Tomcat would've been more appropriate IMO.
But even so, as a RIO you gotta do a preflight and weapons check before you are allowed to be launched.

Once catapulted from the carrier, you got no control of the plane. That's the pilots job. Image Image

Your job is to ID enemy targets, engage them and launch countermeasures if bogeys get in yer six.

If my antiquated puter could handle it, I'd be all over it.
I sort of got stuck with BF1942
But from what I've seen it's BF3 is awesome. Them swede's at Dice sure know how to make games..

I wouldn't even think about trying to play BF3 on my POS PC.
Luckily I've had my 'buddies' gaming laptop for a couple of months now. This thing ROCKS! Image
Win7 Pro OS, duel core CPU, and a kick ass vid card. 8-)
If ya wanna check out some of the videos and walkthru, here's the link to IGN:
http://www.ign.com/wikis/battlefield-3/ ... alkthrough

I just can't figure out how to take a screenshot with this bloody game. :(
There's nothing the options menu, and FRAPS don't wanna work either. Image
Them Swedes at Dice do make some good stuff man, but don't forget about us Canucks at EA eh. 8-)

Can't get much more realistic than that! Looks like an awesome game. 8-) Peace.

Those pics were from the IGN site. Notice their logo on the bottom right. Print Screen doesn't work either. I think the problem might be is he didn't install the game on the lappy. He copied the game from his PC onto a portable HD and then I copied it to the laptop.

But yeah, the graphics are awesome. And some of the weapons that ya can pickup are very cool and there are a variety of different sights from tactical to sniper scopes. 8-)
I have a number of gripes with this game tho. One is the auto game saves. There's no provision for a manual save which gets annoying at times. But my biggest bitch is during Operation Swordbreaker. If you look at the walkthru there's a point where you have to take out a sniper in a hotel from a rooftop. I had swapped my M4 for an AK-74M earlier on. One of yer squad mates rolls you a rocket launcher which you use to zap the sniper. They will supply suppressive fire while you pop up and blow the hell outta the hotel. Fine ... tango down. But now I've got the M4 instead of the AK I'd picked up. WTF Image

All complaining aside, game play and the story line is pretty good. ;)

How the hell could I miss the ign logo
Can't help ya on the swordbreak mission as I don't have the game..
Found this about taking screenshots..

Quote:
While Battlefield 3 doesn’t have a built-in screenshot button, there are a few options for taking ingame screenshots.
The first option is from the console. First, press the tilde ( ` ) key. Then, type the command Screenshot.Render and hit Enter to take the screenshot. The screen will flash white briefly to show a screenshot was taken.
You can take another screenshot a little more quickly if you’ve already entered the Screenshot.Render command once before exiting the game. To take another, press tilde, the Up key, then Enter. Screenshots taken using Screenshot.Render are saved in this folder: C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Battlefield 3\Screenshots
A second option is to take a screenshot in windowed mode. If you’re in full-screen mode, press Alt + Enter to go to windowed mode. Next, press the Print Screen button. Finally, you’ll need to open a program such as Paint and choose Ctrl + V or Edit -> Paste to insert the screen shot, then save the image.

Thanks man. Very helpful. ;) The screenshot.render works great except you can see the console in the image. At least you can take multiple screenshots unlike using print screen. So why didn't they bind a key for screenshots?? Geeze!

That's an M4 with a HOLO sight during Thunder Run. But I'd still rather have an AK-74M with an ACOG sight. :P
Kalashnikovs may not be as fancy as the American Colts, but they are way more reliable. They don't jam if ya happen to get a grain of sand in the breach.
